Description

Stanley Donen’s film plays with the multiplicity of appearances, starting from its very title. The same can be said of this multifaceted, multifunctional piece, exuding an imperturbable elegance—much like the film’s effortlessly stylish protagonists, Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. Charade goes far beyond the concept of a simple functional screen that conceals, contains, and displays; it is an object of undeniable charm, a microcosm in itself, capable of conveying a timeless sense of elegance while introducing an element of theatrical exuberance into the home. A vertical stage in our living space, it encloses and safeguards our most personal belongings with care. An intimate, refined, and elegant corner that symbolizes an essential way of living—thoughtful, deliberate, and sophisticated: these are the defining qualities of Charade. A simple interplay of vertical panels and a distinctive handcrafted comb-hinge structure enable the sophisticated yet balanced construction of this screen. Combined with a small writing desk, it ensures perfect, self-sufficient stability. The panels are fitted with various functional elements—hooks, rings, trays, shelves—and a large mirror, spectacularly highlighted by soft perimeter lighting, alongside a vertically sliding luminous sphere. These accessories define Charade’s practical essence, transforming it into a small theatrical scene, where every detail serves a purpose. The choice to upholster all vertical and horizontal panels entirely in leather, combined with the use of solid wood craftsmanship and refined metal details, reinforces Charade’s ability to integrate personal, aesthetically striking, and comforting elements into any space.
