Description

The name evokes Orson Welles’ immortal masterpiece—better known in Italy as Quarto Potere—which tells the story of Charles Foster Kane, the legendary media magnate. A writing desk is increasingly becoming a refined and essential corner in the modern home, reflecting a contemporary lifestyle that bridges its historical vocation for contemplation, intellectual pursuits, and knowledge with the latest modes of socialization and interaction—now integral to our daily lives. This piece has been reinterpreted as a minimalist architecture, where the act of design itself enables a spontaneous material expression, giving the desk a strong yet cultured and sensitive personality. Citizen Kane stands out for its slender, lightweight structure, featuring minimal sections and softly rounded surfaces that create an intimate harmony of bold yet elemental forms. Planes and volumes are juxtaposed in a spatial interplay, revealing a structural logic that is pure and essential. A flat leather sheet bends and gently wraps around the volumes, embracing them while accentuating the walnut wood edges, almost as if to highlight the inner sections of the encased forms. The natural resilience of the leather enhances this contrast, lending the piece a sense of refined craftsmanship. Citizen Kane embodies a perfect balance between tailoring, saddlery, and fine cabinetmaking—rooted in the great artisanal tradition. The equilibrium of its design bestows a discreet yet harmonious elegance, making it a timeless statement of sophistication.
